Efficient shear retrofitting of reinforced concrete beams using prestressed deep embedded bars

The Deep Embedment (DE) technique is a promising reinforced concrete (RC) shear strengthening scheme. When compared with the other retrofitting systems, DE approach impressive in many ways. Particularly, since element installed to beam core, truss mechanism enhanced and that enables achieving high enhancements. Due internal application of reinforcement, steel can also be utilized as material without reservations on corrosion. It however identified tensile capacity bar partially utilized. In this context, potential using prestress system an improvement was explored through non-linear numerical study experimental study. Two reinforcement types normal high-tensile were considered level set 40%. Both approaches showed use capable enhancing significantly, where extra strength gain one case almost 26%. serviceability performance beams improved due application.
